Chapman Seed can source the highest quality varieties locally, and has the experience and knowledge to create custom blends to help growers achieve their goals, whether it is for soil health, erosion, or suppressing pest and disease challenges.
Jim’s experience with cover crops began when he agreed to work with Dr. Jim Davis, a University of Idaho potato researcher, on the benefits of cover crops in a potato rotation in 1984 while he was farming with his father. In 2000, as an agronomist with the Amalgamated Sugar Company, Jim managed 4 years of cooperative research trials with Saad Hafez, a professor of Nematology with the University of Idaho, assessing the benefits of nematode trap crops in sugar beet production. Jim’s knowledge and years of experience in the benefits of cover crops led him to incorporate cover crop seed into our seed offerings in 2007 that continues to this day.
